LEARNER UNIFORM & PPE

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS. PRACTICAL TRAINING. SAFETY FIRST

At Training for Electricians, we expect learners to present themselves professionally and arrive prepared for both classroom and practical workshop training.

Our uniform and PPE requirements help create a professional training environment, prepare learners for expectations within the electrical industry and, most importantly, ensure learners can participate safely in practical activities.

Correct uniform and required PPE must be worn on all scheduled training days.

All learners are expected to attend Training for Electricians appropriately dressed and prepared for both classroom and practical workshop training.

The following items are required:

TFE branded T-shirt
Suitable safety boots with protective toe caps

The following items are recommended or optional:

Black work trousers suitable for practical training
TFE branded hoodie

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All additional PPE required for practical workshop activities is provided by Training for Electricians. Learners will be shown how and when the appropriate PPE must be worn.

Please note: Safety boots are mandatory for practical workshop activities. Learners who attend without suitable safety footwear may not be permitted to take part in practical training.

Safety Footwear & Work Trousers

Learners are welcome to purchase their safety footwear and work trousers from any retailer, provided they are suitable for practical workshop training.

Safety Boots

ITEMS NOT PERMITTED

To maintain a professional and safe training environment, the following items are not permitted during training:

Tracksuit bottoms or jogging bottoms
Shorts
Leggings
Sliders, flip-flops or sandals
Crocs or other unsuitable footwear
Trainers during practical workshop activities
Ripped or heavily distressed clothing
Clothing displaying offensive or inappropriate wording, images or logos
Caps or hats inside the training centre
Hoods worn up inside the training centre
Loose clothing that may present a health and safety risk during practical activities

Outdoor coats should not be worn during training sessions. Coats should be removed once learners enter the classroom or workshop.

General Principles

All clothing should be:

Clean
Smart and presentable
Professional
In a good state of repair
Suitable for classroom and practical training
Appropriate for a professional workplace environment
Compliant with health and safety requirements

Learners represent Training for Electricians both within the training centre and when attending work placements, employer visits or external activities. All learners are therefore expected to maintain a professional standard of dress and appearance at all times.

These expectations are designed to prepare learners for the standards of professionalism, presentation and safety expected within the electrical industry and wider workplace.

Sanctions for Non-Compliance

Learners are expected to follow the Training for Electricians uniform and dress expectations at all times.

Where a learner does not meet these expectations, this will be addressed in line with our Behaviour Policy and the individual circumstances.

Learners may be asked to correct inappropriate clothing or remove items that do not meet our standards.

Where required uniform or safety footwear is not worn, learners may be unable to participate in practical workshop activities until the appropriate clothing or footwear is available.

Repeated failure to meet uniform, dress or PPE requirements may result in further action in accordance with the Training for Electricians Behaviour Policy.
